Schedule Procedures

Each season, several conflicts will affect coaching schedules. Although SABA’s priority is to schedule non-conflicting games for each coach, there are over 400 SABA games to organize across the entire club each year.

UNAVOIDABLE SCHEDULING CONFLICTS

Each season, several conflicts will affect coaching schedules. Although SABA’s priority is to schedule non-conflicting games for each coach, there are over 400 SABA games to organize across the entire club each year.

Certain factors present chaos each weekend such as field locations and availability, time of games, and opponent availability. Club directors map out the scenario that works best for all 26 teams, while trying to keep most teams with their lead coach.

Unfortunately, some scheduling conflicts may occur 24 to 48 hours prior to games for various reasons outside our control, such as field changes, referee mix-ups, and opposing clubs facing their own challenges. At times, situations arise on the day of games, and we need to make rapid schedule adjustments in order to cover games as best we can.

When scheduling conflicts occur, the coaching rotation protocol will be implemented. Coaching rotations are explained in the process section on SABANYC.com.

PRACTICE SCHEDULES

Practice days and times are announced in August (fall schedule), November (indoor schedule), and February (spring schedule).

*Permit confirmations may affect the ability to announce schedules as early as intended.

PRACTICE TIMES

Fall and Spring practices typically take place from 4-7pm.

The U7-U10 age groups get scheduled in the first 90-minute slot. However, some U10 teams may begin to move over into the 5:30pm slot. Coaching availabilities and their schedules with other teams will determine any changes in team schedules.

If times need to change at any point during the year, parents will be notified of the plan as early as possible.

Practice schedules may change during winter months

The Winter practice objective is to maintain similar hours as outdoor sessions. However, not all teams can train in the same time frame as fall and spring due to gym availabilities or school restrictions on outside activities at certain hours. Some gym start times are 6pm and others may be earlier. The youngest age group will take the earliest slots.  It should be noted that some teams end practices at 9pm on weeknights.

Parents should keep this in mind as teams progress from youngest to oldest age groups and practice times are moved to later times.

Read this season’s Practice Schedule.

OTHER FACTORS THAT COULD CHANGE PRACTICE TIMES and LOCATIONS

Field locations can change due to reasons out of our control. Important factors to consider when joining the club:

  • We don’t own fields so every season we have to reapply for permits.
  • Permit times and locations can change without any advance notice from the parks department or permit officials.
  • The Parks Department may randomly close a field for re-seeding or turf renovation.

Enrollment in the club should not be contingent upon logistics such as field locations and changes in times. We are a competitive club that expectsplayers and parents to adapt to any necessary changes that helps maintain the competitive atmosphere at the forefront and not the preferred field locations of parents.

Our refund policy is clear and indicates the process of withdrawing from the club once registered and confirmed with a team or training group.
